Dear Bumbleride Customer,
The Bumbleride Carrycot is tested and found compliant with both the US safety standard F2050 for "hand-held infant carriers" as well as the Canadian standard SOR/85-379 for "carriages and strollers". However, Health Canada is now categorizing the Carrycot under their safety standard SOR/2010-261 for "cribs, cradles and bassinets" under which the Carrycot is not compliant. The Carrycot handles can lie inside the body of the Carrycot which could potentially pose as an entanglement hazard to the occupant should they be left in the product unattended.
Please note that since Bumbleride’s original production of the Carrycot in 2009, we have yet to receive any instances, concerns or comments regarding the soft handles or the safety hazard that they could pose. Because of the potential instance, Bumbleride is providing retrofit kits to all Bumbleride Carrycot owners. The retrofit kit can be attached to each of the handles and prevent the hazard from occurring.
This concern affects all Bumbleride Carrycots currently on the market.
We are working with Health Canada to provide retrofit kits for all Bumbleride Carrycots distributed to Canada that were produced throughout the year of 2012.
If you own a Bumbleride Carrycot purchased anytime between 2009 and 2012, and would like to apply for a Retrofit Kit, please contact our Customer Care at 1-800-530-3930 (Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. PT), or by email at info@bumbleride.com.
We are confident that our Carrycot Retrofit Kit will resolve the issue outlined above, and apologize for the inconvenience this issue may have caused you.
If you have any questions whatsoever, please contact our Customer Care team at your earliest convenience at1-800-530-3930 (M-F 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. PT), or via email at info@bumbleride.com.
